Welcome to Ugaaso Women Dialogue Space (UWDS)
Amplifying women’s voices in governance, peacebuilding, and public life across the Somali Region.
Our Story
Advancing Women’s Leadership for Lasting Peace and Inclusive Governance
Founded in 2021, Ugaaso Women Dialogue Space (UWDS) began as a platform for women leaders across the Somali Region to engage in dialogue on governance, peace, and community development. Since then, it has grown into a women-led civil society organization dedicated to advancing women’s political participation, strengthening peacebuilding efforts, and promoting gender justice across the region.
OUR APPROACH
What Makes Us Different
1. Women-Led and Locally Rooted
We are led by Somali women who know the region’s realities from the inside.
2. Bridging Political and Community Divides
We bring women across parties, clans, and communities to the same table.
3. From Dialogue to Tangible Impact
We turn dialogue into concrete gains for women’s rights, peace, and protection.
Our Mission
Empowering women for inclusive governance and sustainable progress.
Our Vission
A region where women’s leadership, influence, and participation are central to political life, peacebuilding, and community development.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We work hand-in-hand with communities across the Somali Region, engaging elders, religious leaders, women, and youth in open dialogue and collective action. Through local forums, awareness campaigns, and community-driven initiatives, we build ownership for gender equality, peace, and social change from the ground up.
